Choosing cells and chargers

Use only cells with an intact wrap and a continuous discharge rating that comfortably exceeds what your build draws. A nicked or torn wrap exposes the negative casing and is a genuine short-circuit risk — rewrap it or retire it, and never run a damaged cell "just for now".

Marry your batteries. Cells used as a pair should be the same brand, same model, bought together, charged together and always used together, so they age at the same rate and neither is pushed to carry the other.

A dedicated external charger with independent bays is a better investment than in-device charging for anyone running removable cells. Independent channels terminate each cell correctly, and most decent units will also report internal resistance, which is the earliest warning that a cell is on the way out.

Store and carry loose cells in a plastic or silicone case. Loose in a pocket or bag with keys or coins is the classic way to short a battery, and the failure is fast and violent.

All Batteries items ship from our Victorian warehouse in discreet, unmarked satchels with end-to-end Australia Post tracking. Order before 2:00 PM AEST Monday to Friday and it goes out the same day; weekend orders are dispatched Monday morning.
