DIY fundamentals

Nicotine base demands respect. Wear nitrile gloves, mix in a ventilated space away from children and animals, label every bottle clearly with strength and date, and store the concentrate cold and dark. Treat spills promptly.

Start simple. Single-flavour or two-flavour mixes at modest percentages teach you what each concentrate actually does; elaborate recipes assembled before you know your ingredients mostly produce muddle.

Glass or HDPE for anything stored long term. Cheaper plastics react with some concentrates over time, particularly citrus and cinnamon, and will haze or soften.

Give a mix time before you judge it. Most benefit from a week, and cream, custard and tobacco profiles change substantially over two to three. A recipe dismissed on day one is often the same recipe you like a fortnight later.
