Power, chipsets and safety

Buy the mod around the tank you intend to run, not the other way around. A single-battery device comfortably drives most sub-ohm tanks to around 80 W; dual-battery mods exist for the high-wattage RDA and mesh-tank end of the range, and carry the extra weight to prove it.

A regulated chipset is doing real safety work — short-circuit detection, reverse-polarity cutoff, over-discharge protection and thermal limiting. Those protections are the reason a modern regulated mod is a fundamentally different proposition to an unregulated mechanical device.

Removable cells versus built-in is a longevity question. An internal battery makes for a neater device, but when the cell degrades after a couple of years the whole mod goes with it. Removable 18650 or 21700 cells can simply be replaced — provided you use marked wraps, a dedicated external charger, and never carry loose cells in a pocket with keys or coins.

Temperature control is genuinely useful with stainless, nickel or titanium coils and does nothing at all with kanthal. If you do not intend to use it, it should not drive your buying decision.
