Fitting and priming
Resistance sets the whole character of the vape. Sub-ohm heads below 0.5 Ω run warm, need airflow open and suit high-VG liquid at low nicotine. Anything at 1.0 Ω and above is built for a tight mouth-to-lung draw, higher nicotine and far less liquid per puff — which is also why they last considerably longer.
Prime every new coil properly and it will repay you. Wet each visible wicking port, fill the tank, then leave it standing five to ten minutes before the first draw. Firing dry cotton scorches it permanently, and no amount of running-in afterwards recovers the flavour.
A coil that tastes burnt after two days is almost never faulty. The usual causes are chain-vaping past the wick's refill rate, running a sweet dessert liquid at high wattage, or letting the tank drop near empty. Staying inside the printed wattage range and topping up before the level reaches the intake holes will typically double the life you get.
